My BioI grew up on a farm in north-western Indiana in the small town of LaPorte. Many of my paintings are inspired from these early years living in the beautiful countryside. I had dogs, many cats and a pony named Thunder. I spent many days riding that pony pretending I was the female version of the Lone Ranger. My imagination was at work constantly. I loved to read as a child and started writing poetry and short stories. I wanted to become a writer! Who knew how things would turn out! I ended up going to college for three years at Indiana University, first for journalism (which I hated) and then psychology (I loved). But during my junior year I got married and had a daughter. I put my life on hold so I could enjoy those first years with her. Then I discovered something I would never have guessed...I wanted to continue to be a stay-at-home mom. Never saw it coming! I had two more children, sons, and my family was complete! I loved being a mom! And still do! But my kids grew up and didn't need me all the time anymore! So I had to find my own life again.... That is when I discovered wonderful original art on Ebay. I bought a piece here and a piece there and I got so excited about art! After a while I thought about trying to paint myself. I never really had any art classes outside of the ones in elementry school, so it was a leap for me! I spent months reading through painting books, learning about paint, brush strokes, etc. I started practicing on paper and finally the big day came--canvas! It was a scary and exciting day as I painted my first real painting. I put it up for sale on Ebay for a very cheap price, but it sold! I was amazed!! I was hooked! I kept painting and people kept buying, so I kept painting! Soon I raised my prices and my art still sold! I was so happy and grateful and I still am! Over four years later I am still selling on Ebay and have branched out to Cafe Press, Artfire and Imagekind. I have done quite a few commission paintings and my paintings have sold internationally. I am very grateful to be doing something I love so very much! |
